Why Do We Have Ring Bearers?

Posted by WeddedGlitz Online Store on

Did you ever wonder where the tradition of the wedding ring bearer came from?

We did! So we tried to find some information on this mystery and here is what we found. It seems that the tradition was founded in Ancient Egypt. The Egyptians found it to be customary to carry their jewels on stunning and ornamental pillows during their  wedding ceremonies. It has just remained a popular tradition in modern day as a way to include young children in the ceremony! While a ring bearer is not a necessity for your ceremony, young children will find it fun and will love being such a central part of the event. After all, what kid does not love being the center of attention?

Typically a ring bearer can be a boy or a girl and they will walk down the aisle carrying a beautifully designed Ring Bearer Pillow that will have both of your wedding bands on it. When the child arrives, you will take both rings and then take your vows. It is an adorable and fun way to add some fun and cuteness to your day!

Don’t forget to give your ring bearer a little token of appreciation for their hard work!
